  • ABOUT

Hi, I'm Kate. I teach both yoga and Pilates and discovered each practice for very different reasons. However, each one has been fundamental to me being able to maintain my own physical and mental wellbeing over the years and I am so grateful that I discovered the benefits of each practice.

    YOGA

I trained with the British Wheel of Yoga and qualified in 2009. I began to practice around 2004 when trying to find something to help me with what I now realise was anxiety. From the first time I lay down on the mat, I felt the benefits of yoga. I was able to breathe freely and without the pressing feeling of tension and anxiety. I knew I wanted to train to teach yoga to share what I had felt with other people. Twenty years later and I am still doing exactly that. I often say to people, if I hadn't discovered yoga my life would be very different. It has helped me both physically and mentally in so many ways.

    PILATES

After the birth of my children - two cesarean sections in two years, it became clear that my the pregnancies and the surgeries had taken their toll on my core muscles. I was left with what is called diastasis recti, a split in my six pack muscles. A speparation in these muscles during precnancy is normal however, the separation normally returns to what it was pre-pregnancy, mine didn't. I was lucky enough to be referred for physiotherapy by my GP and this involved some remedial Pilates. It put me on the right track to being able to heal my core muscles and to regain a functional core. The benefits of the practice were very clear to me. I began to feel stronger throughtout my whole body and I wanted to learn all about it so I could share the benefits with others. I qualified in 2018 and here I am sharing the practice and helping others to benefit just as I did. The benefits of the practice numerous, Pilates builds strength & flexibility, improves balance and posture and can also reduce pain.
